The coaching staff brings experience from travel ball, high school programs and college playing backgrounds. They emphasize fundamentals, game awareness and consistent improvement. Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of baseball while instilling a love for the game, emphasizing teamwork, effort, and sportsmanship. We strive to build a foundation that prepares our players for the next level, not just as athletes, but as leaders and great teammates.
Lee Hicks
Carolina Select 9U
Lee Hicks brings a strong competitive baseball background, having played catcher at the high school level. Lee is a graduate of Florence Christian High School where he played baseball from 1990 – 1993. He was a four-year starter at catcher for the Eagles. During that time, he developed a deep knowledge of both offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Coach Hicks is a committed and passionate baseball coach with a background in player development, fundamentals, and game strategy. His coaching philosophy centers on building confident, disciplined athletes who understand both the mechanics and the mental aspects of the game.
Trae Allison

Coach Trae Allison is a 1997 graduate of South Florence High School, where he was a standout member of the Bruins baseball program from 1994–1997. A three-year starter, Allison helped lead the 1996 South Florence team to a historic season that opened with a championship at the IP Baseball Classic and concluded with a No. 1 state ranking across all classifications and a No. 7 national ranking by USA High School Baseball. That team went on to finish as the 1996 Lower State Runner-Up. Coach Allison earned All-Region honors in 1996 and 1997, All-State honors in 1997, and was selected to the prestigious Team One Southeastern Baseball roster, featuring top players from across the Southeast. He received All-American Honorable Mention recognition from Team One in 1997 and was also chosen for the North-South All-Star Team that same year. In addition to his high school achievements, he played four seasons (1994–1997) with the Florence American Legion program, finishing as state runner-up in 1995. Following high school, Coach Allison signed with the University of South Carolina to continue his baseball career with the Gamecocks. He later played for Francis Marion University and for the Florence RedWolves of the Coastal Plain League. Coach Allison began his coaching career at South Florence in 2015, assisting both the junior varsity and varsity programs and later serving as the JV Head Coach in 2022 and 2023. He also spent several years working with the South Florence Junior Legion team, which earned State Runner-Up finishes in 2016, 2017, and 2022. At the conclusion of the 2023 season, Coach Allison was named Associate Head Coach for the Trinity Collegiate Titans. He currently serves as a Varsity Assistant Coach at West Florence High School. Coach Allison also serves as a co-founder and organzier of the Sandlapper Baseball League, a summer program designed to provide competitive opportunities for high school players and coaches in South Carolina.
